Which email id looks more professional, [email protected] or [email protected]? Later, right? And thanks to iCloud+, you can now create your own personal domain with iCloud Mail on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Along with benefits like Personal Relay, Hide My Email, and more storage space, iCloud+ also offers the ability to set up a custom email domain using iCloud Mail. Simply put, the part after the @ in an email address is known as the email domain.
How To Hook Up A Custom Domain Email To Your Free Gmail Account
Common email domains include gmail.com, outlook.com, etc. However, if you are using something different like your website/business name, it will be considered a custom email domain.
ICloud Custom Email Domains is currently a beta feature and prone to bugs. And therefore, I recommend that you do not use this as your primary or critical email address. Also, avoid making any changes to your main domain to avoid mistakes.
Surprisingly, you can create an iCloud Mail custom email domain on any browser of your choice. This means you don’t need a Mac, iPhone or iPad. Even a Windows device will suffice.
I recommend using a Mac or PC, although there are more steps involved and it’s much easier to switch between multiple tabs on a laptop than on a smartphone.
Send Emails Using Your Own Domain
So far everything has been a breeze, but the next step is difficult. To create synchronization between iCloud and your domain, you need to update domain registrar settings, that is, update MX, TXT and CNAME records.
Once you’ve updated your DNS records, iCloud may take some time to verify and sync. Upon completion, you will receive a letter confirming the process on your Apple ID; Tap Continue to finish.
Once the email address is verified, you will be notified on other Apple devices using the same Apple ID. Interestingly, you can use a new email address with iMessage and FaceTime, ensuring your brand is always on point.
No, this feature is only available in countries/regions where iCloud+ works. You can view the availability form here.
Learn Enough Custom Domains To Be Dangerous
You are not; This is a ‘beta thing’, and so there is currently no permanent solution. Hopefully this will be resolved when Apple finally releases this feature to the public.
Apple happily includes some neat features, and users eagerly embrace them. But what I’m trying to see is the bigger picture here, Apple’s attempt to be a healthy service provider, from TV to music to cloud storage, and everything that comes under one roof.

How To Set Up An Icloud Mail Custom Email Domain
A self-proclaimed geek who loves exploring all things Apple. I really enjoy discovering new hacks, solving problems, and finding and reviewing the best products and apps available today. My expertise also includes drafting thoughtful and honest editorials. If not, you can probably find me surfing the web or listening to audiobooks. Apple is now testing an iCloud Mail feature that users have been asking for years: custom email domains. What does it mean? Most people use free email services like iCloud Mail and Gmail where all email addresses use a predefined domain. For example, if you use iCloud Mail your address would be something like [email protected] (or [email protected]) or if you’re good old school [email protected]. Likewise, if you use a free Gmail account, your address is on the [email protected] line.
However, if you have a custom domain name like joshcenters.com, many email services will allow you to use that domain for your email address. It offers several advantages:
I personally don’t trust iCloud Mail for anything other than testing. The lack of custom domain support was one reason, but I still don’t see myself switching. iCloud Mail lacks advanced options from other email providers and is notorious for silently filtering messages, retrieving messages or even knowing what was sent.
However, there are some good reasons to use iCloud Mail, especially if you buy into the Apple ecosystem.

Apple does not sell domains, so you must purchase them from a domain registrar before setting up a custom email address. Entire books have been written about buying and managing domains, but the process is relatively simple. Here are some recorders we’ve used with success:
I currently host my domains with Apk because of the company’s strong civil liberties stance and excellent 24/7 support. However, if you are new to domain registration, I would refer you to Hoar. What I use is a very user-friendly recorder, complete with great phone support. If you start with one domain registrar and want to switch to another, you can transfer your domain at any time, although you usually have to pay an additional year.
Once you own the domain, be sure to renew it annually or pay for a multi-year subscription. Set yourself a reminder to renew at least a few weeks before it’s due. Make sure your payment information is up to date when the renewal date comes up. I almost lost my joshcenters.com domain due to Hoover charges. Domain hijackers often find expired domains and try to sell them back to their owners at a very high price.
You must have a valid email address at your domain to set up iCloud Mail, as Apple will send a confirmation email to that address. If you’re setting up a new email address, it’s a bit of a catch-22, but don’t worry, most registrars will let you create a free forwarding address that will work. Remember to do this before you start configuring your domain in iCloud Mail.

Below is a screenshot of setting up a forwarding address for one of my epic domains. I have set [email protected] to forward any emails to my primary email address. This allowed me to receive a confirmation message from Apple.
(My friend Sonia and I bought mannsplaining.net when we were thinking of starting a podcast called Mannsplaining. Unfortunately, we both later realized that we didn’t have enough time to create a podcast, and I didn’t have time for anything. have not used the domain since..)
With all that in mind, let’s take a look at the process of setting up your custom domain to work with iCloud Mail:
If you forgot to set up an active email address before you started (hand up), you can click to resend confirmation emails on this screen.
The Limitations Of Using A Free Domain
Monitor your email inbox for a confirmation email from Apple. Once you get it, open it and click confirm. If your default browser isn’t supported by iCloud Beta, you can click the Confirm button in Mail and choose Open in > Safari or another installed browser. In other email clients, you’ll be able to click Confirm, copy the URL, and paste it into your browser.
Here’s where things get complicated—you’ll need help from your domain registrar. You must set up the appropriate DNS records with your registrar, and how you do this varies by registrar. If you get help from your registrar and provide the details, they will be able to prepare the records for you or at least point you in the necessary directions.
In its simplest form, DNS records are instructions for how DNS servers should handle requests for a domain. DNS stands for Domain Name System, and is a collection of interconnected DNS servers that can be accessed as domains rather than numerical IP addresses.
To see the record you need, check your iCloud inbox for an email titled “Finish Setting Up Your Custom Domain”, but don’t follow the instructions in the email!
How To Configure Gmail With My Domain?
You must correctly enter all of these DNS records for your domain on your registrar’s site. If you miss or make a mistake, an email from your domain can be instantly rejected or flagged by a spam filter.
If you are using your domain for services other than email, these records should not interfere with those services unless you overwrite existing entries. However, if you have email forwarding set up with your registrar or are already using your domain with another email provider, you may want to delete that provider’s associated DNS entries. (Record the deleted information in Notes or Favorites, in case you ever want to change it back.) If you’ve already set up a custom email domain, I’m sure you know something. That’s what you’re doing.
