Below you will find a step-by-step guide to quickly set up a new Google GSuite email address selected for cold email.

This post goes over how to maintain a domain that is linked to an existing Gsuite account with a domain purchased from GoDaddy. If you want to keep it really simple, buy your domain from Google.

Google should automatically detect that Godaddy is the domain registrar. Click on the red “Confirm” button. A new window will appear asking you to login to GoDaddy. After logging in, you will be asked to take about 60 seconds to verify that you are a Google owner. If that doesn’t work, Google will offer you alternative verification methods, such as adding a TXT record.

4) Once your domain is verified, you will be asked to create a user. Name, email address, phone number, etc. Enter and save.

If you have billing set up in your GSuite account, the new user you create will automatically start paying a monthly subscription of $5. If you have not created an account, you will be asked to select a plan. A base of $5 should work fine.

5) Time to set up your MX records. This should pick up GSuite (Gmail) as the email service provider for your newly created email address. On the Google Admin Domain page, click “Set up Google MX Records” and it will link you to this page.

6) Now it’s time to protect your emails from the spam folder by setting up SPF record and DMARC. An SPF record is used to prevent unauthorized email from being sent from your domain. When you send an email to someone, the email server checks the SPF record, which verifies that you sent the email.

Cold email (or any email for that matter) is like going to a customs official without an SPF record, traveling abroad without a passport, being rejected or detained (ie – ‘sent to the spam folder’). .

The GSuite MX records we install require a Google specific SPF record and detailed instructions can be found here. If your email is hosted somewhere other than Google, you can contact your email provider or domain owner’s support department for specific instructions.

Go back to Godaddy DNS Manager (Login > Domains > Manage > DNS) and click Add. To avoid future delivery issues with this new email address, I recommend adding your DKIM and DMARC as soon as possible.

DKIM verifies that the message content has not been tampered with. SPF defines the domains that can send messages for your organization. DMARC determines how your domain handles suspicious emails.

Use the DomainKeys Recognized Mail (DKIM) standard to prevent email breaches. DKIM adds an encrypted signature to the header of all outgoing messages.

If you don’t enable email signing with your DKIM key, Gmail signs all outgoing messages with this DKIM domain key: d=*. Email sent from servers outside of will not be signed with a DKIM key.

If you don’t configure DKIM, Gmail uses the default DKIM, which works fine, and they recommend using your DKIM. If you want to choose a dealer and create your own DKIM, follow the instructions here.

I decided to create a unique DKIM for and the first step was to go to the G Suite settings for Gmail. ps – Make sure you are logged in as an administrator for the correct domain when making this change.

Click on the “Email Authentication” setting, then generate a DKIM key. Access your DNS domains.

Create/add a new TXT record to DNS. “google_domainkey” goes to “host” and a long string is placed in the TXT value section. TTL can be set to 1 hour and then saved. Go back to Google Admin.
