Microsoft Active Directory Monitoring Tools

Microsoft Active Directory Monitoring Tools – The following documents are for monitoring Azure AD Connect (Sync) with Azure AD Connect Health. For information about monitoring AD FS with Azure AD Connect Health, see Using Azure AD Connect Health with AD FS. Also, for information about monitoring Active Directory Domain Services with Azure AD Connect Health, see Using Azure AD Connect Health with AD DS.

Azure AD Connect Health for synchronization requires Azure AD Connect Sync V2. If you are using AADConnect V1, you will need to update to the latest version. AADConnect V1 was discontinued on August 31, 2022. Azure AD Connect Health for Sync will be deprecated in December 2022 with AADConnect V1.

The Azure AD Connect Health Alerts for Sync section provides a list of active alerts. Each alert contains relevant information, resolution steps, and links to related documents. When you select an active or resolved alert, you’ll see a new window with additional information, steps you can take to resolve the alert, and links to additional documentation. You can also view historical details about previously resolved alerts.

When you select an alert, you will find additional information, steps to take to resolve the alert, and links to additional documentation.

If Azure AD Connect does not use the default settings (for example, if the attribute filter is changed from the default configuration to a custom configuration), the Azure AD Connect Health agent will not post an error event related to Azure AD Connect.

This limits the evaluation of service alerts. You will see a banner indicating this condition in the Azure portal for your service.

You can change this by clicking Settings and allowing the Azure AD Connect Health agent to load all error logs.

Using Azure Ad Connect Health With Sync

Administrators often want to know how long it takes to sync changes to Azure AD and the size of the changes. An easy way to visualize this function is to use the graphs below.

This feature shows a graphical trend of synchronization latency (import, export, etc.) for connectors. It’s not only a quick and easy way to understand your operational delays (even longer if you have big changes), but also a way to detect delays that might require investigation.

By default, only the latency of the Azure AD Connector ‘Export’ action will be displayed. To view other operations on a connector or to view operations for another connector, right-click the diagram and select Edit Diagram, or click Edit Latency Graph and select a specific operation or connector.

This feature graphically displays the number of changes being evaluated and exported to Azure AD. Today, it is difficult to gather this information from the sync logs. Creating graphs is not only an easy way to track the number of changes going on in your environment, it also gives you a visual way to see where errors are occurring.

This feature provides a description of synchronization errors that may occur when synchronizing identity information between Windows Server AD and Azure AD using Azure AD Connect.

Error when Azure AD Connect tries to create or update objects with duplicate values of one or more properties in Azure AD that must be unique for the tenant, such as ProxyAddresses and UserPrincipalName.

Errors due to invalid data, such as unsupported characters for important attributes such as UserPrincipalName, and format errors when validation fails before writing to Azure AD.

All other errors that do not fall under the above categories. Based on feedback, this category will be divided into subcategories.

By selecting the “Export” button, you can download a CSV file containing all information about each error.

For specific attribute synchronization errors related to Anchor Source user updates, you can correct them directly from the portal. Active Directory provides a directory service that stores information about network resources and objects.

Also, multiple domain controllers within the same domain are used to store object datasets.

The Replication Service ensures that all directory information for a domain is always fully available to all its domain controllers.

In PRTG, “sensors” are the main control elements. A single sensor typically monitors a single measured value on your network, such as switch port load, server CPU load and disk space. On average, you need 5-10 sensors per device or one sensor per switch port.

The first problem is called replication error. Errors on directory data are likely to be replicated between different domain controllers. The resulting errors can cause authentication and resource access issues.

Many factors can contribute to these errors, including the number of consecutive synchronization errors, the time of the last synchronization attempt, and the number of replication operations remaining.

PRTG sensorActive Directory Replication Errors v2 monitors up to eight different parameters when replicating directories and synchronizing multiple domain controllers and provides intelligent alerts in case of anomalies or errors.

Monitoring Microsoft Azure

Another common problem with using Active Directory is disconnected or disabled users. With standard HR tools, it’s nearly impossible to keep track of those users.

With PRTG you get a ready-to-use script for PRTG Network Monitor that will search Active Directory for all disconnected and disabled users and list them in PRTG: https://kb./en/topic/ 57603-active A trace can be found on – directory-user-account-status?

PRTG requires the Active Directory PS module to use this script. A guide on how to install the module can be found here: Microsoft Guide.

With a Search-AD account, you can run the script with many different queries. For Change, see Microsoft TechNet Platform: TechNet Platform

Active Directory Security Software

Using aPRTG script, you can count how many people are in the group and then set the channel limit to put the sensor in an error state when the number of members exceeds the intended number.

Active Directory (AD) is a directory service created by Microsoft for use in Windows Server environments. It provides authentication and authorization functions and provides a framework for other such services. The directory itself is an LDAP database containing networked objects.

PRTG can be set up in minutes and is available on many mobile devices.

Windows Monitoring Tools

Is There A Better Alternative To Active Directory?

Ping monitoring: PRTG uses ping to check the availability of all your network devices. If the ping fails, you will be notified immediately.

VoIP Monitoring: PRTG monitors the quality of your VoIP connections. By preventing breakdowns and ensuring service level agreements, you will save time and money.

SSL Control: PRTG determines how secure your connection is. So you can find out if your connection is strong, weak or unsecured.

“A great network and infrastructure monitoring solution that is easy to deploy and easy to use. You are only the best.”

Active Directory Auditing Tool

“The software is perfect and the support is great. It meets your needs and requirements and is the perfect solution if you need any kind of monitoring.”

PRTG has many types of alerts: email, SMS, pager, application, running an external program, etc. You can specify when and how to notify everyone of network issues. To do this, you can add contacts, edit, delete or pause notifications at any time.

The notification system is integrated with the monitoring software and is available at no additional cost. Because of its built-in quality, setting up alerts is just a few clicks away.

PRTG does not wait until you know if your “house is on fire”. You set your own limit. If these are exceeded, you will receive a corresponding notification. That means you can intervene right before customers or colleagues know there’s a problem.
