Last week we announced the availability of the first version of the Skype for Business Server 2019 Control Panel as part of the Skype for Business Server 2019 July 2019 Cumulative Update! As you may know from our Ignite 2018 presentation, we worked to create a modern version of the dashboard that doesn’t rely on the soon-to-be-defunct Silverlight technology, but instead relies on React. Although the new control panel will not have all the functionality of the old control panel, we will include a special set of features that should cover most of your organization.

The first part of the control panel has “Home” and “Users” tabs, which allow you to perform the same functions as the previous control panel. Future parts will be introduced in future CUs and we will keep the blog updated with the latest. Please note that this feature is in preview, so you may see some rough edges at times. If you do, we would like you to report an issue via the “Give Feedback” link in the control panel. Read on for more information.

Test features as you would in everyday use of the Home and Users tabs, such as moving users to teams, configuring Hybrid, changing user properties, etc.

Users Tab The following additional steps are required before moving to Teams and setting up hybrid scenarios:

On April 4, Microsoft announced that it had started rolling out the new Teams and Skype for Business Administration Center (TSBAC – my term, not Microsoft’s) to Office 365 tenants. The new admin center is not yet listed in the other 12 admin areas available. from the Office 365 admin center, but you can find it at (see above).

TSBAC is a work in progress and much of the work is not yet done, so much so”

” kind of comfort. In other words, give yourself a month or so before you expect to use this interface in a serious way. Microsoft needs this time to create features and work to transition from other areas to Office 365.

But going forward, the direction is clear. Microsoft will combine features found in the current Skype for Business Online console (here lovingly called “legacy portal”) and settings that control how Teams work and who can access the application (now found in the Settings section). from the Office 365 Admin Center) to provide a single point of contact for all Teams and Skype for Business online. This is part of the transformation of Team to take over from Skype for Business Online.

From Team’s point of view, the new functionality is a transition from per-user tenants to policy-based control over what users can and cannot do within Team. Over time, the configuration of Microsoft Teams will move from the Office 365 admin center to TSBAC. As organizations move, their progress is reflected in the Office 365 admin center (Figure 1). See the Microsoft documentation for more information about migrating to TSBAC.

Set Up For Microsoft Skype For Business (sfb) In Admin Portal

Text messages are the first to go to TSBAC, where they appear in Messaging Policies. In the future, you will be able to create different policies and assign them to different sets of users. Currently, the default message policy is where the settings have been transferred. The settings are there (Figure 2), but you cannot edit the policy. Maybe next week!

If Microsoft updates TSBAC to allow tenants to create and update tenants, you will be able to access the Users section of the console and assign settings to each user there (Figure 3). For example, you can allow some users to remove their messages from channels, while others cannot.

It’s good to use policies to control access to a given functionality at the user level – you don’t have to go down to that level of granularity and you can use the default policy, but it’s good to be able to create and use different policies that reflect a particular user. groups if needed.

I don’t see evidence today of multi-configuration capabilities where you can select a set of users and apply the same policy to that set. This can come in a future version of the console, or Microsoft can modify the PowerShell module for groups to allow the administrator to create a collection of users (perhaps everyone in the department or country) and the accounts with the stamp group policies. Large tenants definitely need a way to automate the provisioning process.

Introducing Skype For Business Server 2019 Control Panel

Guests also create and send messages within the Team, so they have their own settings in TSBAC (Figure 4). In this case, one message rule that applies to visitors is in the organization-wide system, which can be updated.

Office 365 is full of moving parts, and Teams is more dynamic than any other part of the service. This new episode is just one of those episodes. But isn’t constant change one of the true joys of working with cloud systems?

The main purpose of this tool is to combine the installation and daily management functions of Skype for Business Online (SfBO) and Teams in one central place without accessing different portals and using Powershell scripts.

On the “Dashboard” that shows information about the organization, search for users. There are some self-help tools available to familiarize yourself with Teams and how to migrate from Skype for Business to Teams. The only complaint I have with this survey is that it lacks visibility into where users are using Skype for Business. This view is important for those with Skype for Business Hybrid deployments to have an idea of where the majority of users are.

Switch to different tabs, the ‘Users’ tab provides a complete list of users enabled for Team and SfBO. It also shows where the user is in Skype for Business Hybrid mode (which I mentioned since it was missing from the dashboard). For SfBO and Themes, it shows the type of license the user has and the features/settings enabled for the user.

Also, if you select one of the users, it shows the standard SkypeTeams settings for that user. This includes the settings assigned to the user and the current development status of the team. It also shows a collection of quality information for the entire week.

If you need more information about the call history, you can go to the “Call History” tab and review the call type. The call analytics section has recently been added to the management portal and is a powerful tool that allows managers to gain insight into how calls were made and network behavior during calls.

The “Meetings” tab provides the ability to create new meeting settings or pre-installed settings that are not suitable for the environment. The preset rules that are available by default cannot be modified. Custom meeting rules can be configured to allow or deny the use of certain items during a meeting. These settings can be assigned to other users.

In “Meeting Settings” you can adjust the meeting invitation sent to the participants. Fortunately, it also allows you to control the media ports used for peer-to-peer calls for QoS purposes.
